Guide to Phenomenon
i. read the Guidelines information.
As boring as it sounds, reading the rules and other information can be beneficial in your success on this site.
Basic Book Guide Rules FAQ
ii. join the site, post an introduction, and look around the boards.
The most important thing to do on a new forum is familiarize yourself where the information is, ask questions, and join the community.
Introductions
iii. create a character.
Underneath the character creation board, is where you begin your first character. With first characters, I always suggest that you begin with a character with a strong personality, especially if you're new to roleplaying, to get yourself familiarized with the feel of roleplaying and into the plot lines. When creating a bio, you need to factor in several elements: which clan, what position in the clan, and what the site needs. Make sure to post your character using the character application template. If you're not sure what we look for in your bio, check out the what not to do thread, which will clear things up. If you look under the clan of your choices clan statistics, you can see which positions are still open. Also, the banned/encouraged thread should tell you more on what bios will currently not be accepted on our site. Lastly, if you're making a high position character (leaders, deputies, medicine cats, and medicine cat apprentices), then check the information here to learn about high position auditions and to post your own.
iv. Get your character posting.
If you want to wait before creating your first roleplaying post, then go to the requesting board. On the board, you can request for a mate, mentor, apprentice, friend, enemy, or you name it! If you get yourself another character to roleplay with there or begin a sub-plot, then you can have something to go off of when you begin roleplaying. Also, in the sub-boards of that board you can adopt any characters that might've been put up on the adoption and, if your character has kittens later in your time on the site, put down information for them on the birthing board where the staff will give you their pictures. Now, I think it's time to head over to make a roleplaying post. Go over to the category with your characters clan name on it and click into those boards. The ones labeled ___Clan Territory have many boards to post under, each with a specific description that you can go off of. The other should have ___Clan Camp, which will be in the clans camp with many of the other characters of your clan. Make sure to post in third person, past tense and try to go for 150 words, or at least a nice-sized paragraph. We don't expect an a thousand word post here in the least because we value quality over quantity. Try to give other members something to go off of in your post. Don't just describe the scenery; have your character moving or saying something that other characters can reply to. Make your character feel real and that realness will be reflected back in the replied post.
* Those are the basics to joining this site! If you have any questions, please ask someone through pm or the cbox. The staff are always willing to help After you begin roleplaying with your first character, we encourage that you roleplay actively and make more. Try to get on a few times a week and post once a week to stay fully active on the boards. Post around on the Discussion threads to meet the members and hang out in the c-box with them. Thanks for joining Phenomenon and we hope you enjoy our site!
